A FedEx Express MD-11 was involved in a major incident during landing at Narita, Japan. The incident occurred at about 2200Z, Sunday, March 22 (5 pm CST; just before 7 a.m. local time at Narita). Two crew members were onboard. The aircraft was inbound from Guangzhou, China.
FedEx Express has reported that there were no survivors. A team from the company has been dispatched to assist in the investigation. The Air line Pilots Association, Int’l. will also be responding to aid in the investigation. The President and CEO of FedEx Express released a statement which in part stated:
“Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of these crew members. This loss pains all of us at FedEx. Right now our focus is on doing everything we can to assist those involved at this difficult time.”
The incident aircraft is an MD-11 three engine turbine aircraft, registration N526FE, which is configured to carry cargo and operated by a crew of two pilots.
